Danielle Wallek, DVM grew up in East Texas and moved to Corpus Christi in November 2013 where she joined the Animal Medical and Surgical Hospital team. Dr. Wallek purchased the clinic in May of 2014. She attended Texas A&M University and earned a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science in 2006. In 2010, she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University. Dr. Wallek and her husband, Dustin, live in Corpus Christi with their dog, Copper, a German Shorthair Pointer.
Dustin Wallek, VGM, is a native of South Texas and moved back to the area after graduating from Air Force Pilot Training. He and his wife took over ownership of Animal Medical Corpus Christi in May 2014. You may see him working on projects at the clinic. When he isn't at the clinic, Dustin is a commercial airline pilot and an officer in the Air National Guard.
Jeanette Curran, DVM grew up in Corpus Christi and has spent most of her life here. She graduated from Texas A&M - College Station in 2016 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, and she joined Animal Medical Corpus Christi shortly after. She has added a new view on medicine and animal health by being straight from school. It has been a nice refresher for the clinic to learn what is currently being taught in vet school. She spends most of her free time expanding her clinical knowledge in large animals and enjoying time with her dog Eddy.
Dr. Tristan received his bachelors degree in Biomedical Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University. He is a board certified specialist through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in reptile and amphibian medicine. HIs primary interests are exotic animal medicine and soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. As a result, we now offer orthopedic and advanced soft tissue surgery for dogs and cats as well as medical and surgical care for birds, reptiles and small mammals.
In addition to working at Animal Medical Corpus Christi, Dr. Tristan is the veterinarian for the Texas Sealife Center (the only sea turtle and wildlife hospital on the Texas coast) and P.A.A.C. (People Assisting Animal Control) performing low cost spays and neuters.
Julie has been with Animal Medical and Surgical Hospital for 8 years before it switched over to Animal Medical Corpus Christi. She is a recognizable Vet Technician for many of our regular clients. Julie has learned valuable knowledge being around multiple doctors through her time as a Vet Technician and continues to learn with her time with Dr. Wallek.
Shelley works as the receptionist for Animal Medical Corpus Christi. She started in September 2014 as our receptionist. She has a bubbly personality that helps clients feel at ease when they come in. She went to school at Texas College where she studied science and child psychology.
Kristina started with Animal Medical Corpus Christi as a volunteer in September 2015, and began working for the clinic in November as a Veterinary Technician. She currently attends Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi, working toward her Bachelor in Biomedical Science with a Minor in History. Additionally, she volunteers at the Humane Society to gain experience. Her ambitions include becoming a veterinarian.
Mario currently attends Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi working on his Bachelor in Biomedical Science. He is often found fawning over in clinic animals in between helping Dr. Wallek with appointments and also helps with bathing animals. Mario is often stuck with the grunt work in the clinic, so you may find him carrying big bags of dog food around.
Kristen has recently joined Animal Medical Corpus Christi she works as a technician helping our clinic keep up with the ever growing business. She started by volunteering while working on her Veterinary Assistant Degree and has stayed on as part of the staff. Her friendly disposition and caring attitude have made her a great asset in keeping up moral in the workspace.
Jackie has worked for Animal Medical Corpus Christi for a little over a year now. She works as part of our kennel/bathing team. She has helped keep our kennels running smoothly with her OCD and ability to manage her time efficiently between the two sections. The patients love to see her in the morning as she comes in to take them out for their morning walk and are more prone to lick her to death during bath time.
Betsy Riojas is a new Technician at Animal Medical. She interned for us during her schooling as a Veterinary Assistant, and we are happy to now have her as part of our team. She has a great can-do attitude and is always willing to help out where needed in the clinic.
